SmartTutor Pte. Ltd. (“SmartTutor”, “we”, “us”) is committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights.

1. Data Protection Officer

You may contact our Data Protection Officer (DPO) about any matter relating to your personal data at dpo@homeaitutor.com.

2. What we collect

Enquiry data: parent/guardian name, mobile number, email, the student’s level and subjects, and any message you provide.
Account & learning data (if you use our services): student profile, practice activity and, where applicable, AI chat content.
Technical data: device/browser information and cookies (see Section 8).

3. Purposes & consent

We collect and use personal data to (a) respond to your enquiry and provide tutoring services (operational purpose), and (b) where you have separately opted in, send you marketing about our services. We only use data for the purposes you have consented to or as permitted under the PDPA.

4. Children’s data

Our services are intended to be arranged by a parent or legal guardian. The parent/guardian is the account holder and gives consent on the child’s behalf. We minimise the personal data we collect about children and do not knowingly market directly to minors. If you believe a child has provided us data without parental consent, contact our DPO and we will remove it.

5. Disclosure

We may disclose personal data to matched tutors (only as needed to provide tutoring), and to service providers who host our systems or power our AI features under confidentiality obligations. Where data is transferred outside Singapore, we take steps to ensure a comparable standard of protection as required by the PDPA.

6. Marketing & the Do Not Call (DNC) Registry

We will only send you marketing by phone, SMS, WhatsApp or email if you have given clear consent, and every marketing message includes a way to opt out. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time by using the opt-out link or contacting our DPO; we will action withdrawals promptly.

7. Retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above or as required by law, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies to operate the site and, only with your consent, analytics cookies to understand usage. You can manage your choice via the cookie banner or your browser settings.

9. Your rights — access & correction

You may request access to, or correction of, your personal data, or ask how it has been used. Contact our DPO and we will respond as soon as reasonably possible.

10. Security & breach notification

We apply reasonable security measures to protect personal data. In the event of a notifiable data breach, we will notify the PDPC and affected individuals as required by the PDPA.

11. AI features

Some features use artificial intelligence. We clearly label AI interactions, and we limit the personal data processed by AI. Like all AI, outputs may occasionally be inaccurate; please verify important information.

12. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
